Could it be we are dealing with Narcissists?

While dealing with Big Bullies with Big Egos and Big Bank Accounts who think it’s okay to vilify the people who live here, for daring to ask for a safe living environment, the suspicion of NPD or Sociopathy has come up more than once.

We have already seen this type of behaviour from some of the local luminaries who have chosen to weigh in, as well as some non-locals.

Thanks to the inspiring Tyler Durden at zerohedge.com for the quote below.

‘According to Wikipedia, Narcissistic personality disorder (NPD) affects one percent of the population and has little to do with looking at yourself in the mirror.  It has a lot to do with unrealistic fantasies of success, power and intelligence.   Some NPD sufferers become cult leaders or mass murderers, the rest become  economists and policy-makers.   Despite having a highly elevated sense of self-worth,  narcissists have fragile self-esteem and  handle criticism unpredictably, so let’s keep this to ourselves ….  (Before you speak) just remember that (the) truth is the narcissist’s natural enemy.’

I do feel that some people in this debate have just sought to silence us, regardless of the concerns to residents.  It’s a difficult issue, and if the residents can be proved to be misguided, noone has to do anything – which would be preferable for those who will eventually have to untangle this mess. Tyler Durden (above) does cheekily have a dig at the kinds of people who end up in politics or formulating public policy.  It’s certainly common in high-level politics.  Our observation is that some people just want to win  a debate, at any cost, and care little for the truth.
